About us

The Consorzio di Tutela dell'Ovada DOCG is based in Ovada and is chaired by Daniele Oddone.
It brings together about thirty wineries in the area, involved in the production of Ovada DOCG, the jewel of winemaking in Alto Monferrato and one of the great red wines of Piedmont.
The producers of Ovada DOCG have been able to combine artisan creativity, entrepreneurial initiative and perseverance in the search for quality by collecting the memory handed down from generation to generation in a contemporary key.
Formed in 2013 after an intense preparatory work, the Consortium has the fundamental objective of promoting the knowledge of Ovada DOCG and its image in the world, contributing, through a constant dialogue with the institutions and bodies involved, to the promotion of the entire territory of Alto Monferrato, its landscape protection and the development of wine and food and rural tourism.

Ovada DOCG numbers

Ovada DOCG is currently produced in 100,000 bottles, an increase of more than 20% in the last two years.
Distribution is 90% in Italy and 10% abroad.
The total number of hectares under vine is 110.
There are about 50 wineries (2018 data), 70% of which are associated with the Consortium for the Protection of Ovada DOCG. Most of the wineries are family-run and carry out the production, vinification and bottling phases internally.
